Summer is finally on the horizon, and in Juniper, Florida, boat rental season is in full swing. There is just nothing like spending the day out on the ocean, with the wind in your hair while you breathe in the sea air. Our team at
Beach Water Sports wants to help you feel prepared for your time out on the water, so we’ve compiled some of the important information here for you.
Reservations
Our team does not require reservations for our water vehicles. However, if you are planning to
rent a boat, we do recommend you call in advance to get the type of boat you want. We have a large selection, and day-of rentals are available, but a reservation sets you up with the best time possible. If you’re planning on
renting a jet ski, a reservation is probably not needed. We have a large inventory of wave runners, so we have them available the majority of the time. Feel free to call ahead to check availability, and if you are part of a large group, it would be a good idea to reserve the number you need.
Age Requirements
If you were born before January 1, 1988, all you will need is a valid form of photo ID to drive a boat or jet ski. However, if you were born after this date and you do not possess a boating safety card, you will need to take the Florida Safe Boating Test in order to drive the boats and wave runners. Additionally, if you are under 18 years of age, you must be at least 16, have a boating safety card, and have a signed waiver by a parent or guardian. Finally, if you are over 18 years of age, you must have a valid photo ID and a boating safety card to drive the boats.
Boating License
If you do not have a boating safety card, you will need to pass the temporary boating safety card test, which is administered at our location for a $3.00 fee. Please arrive an hour before your reservation time to take the test, and be sure to bring your photo ID. This will act as your temporary boater’s license, and it is valid for 12 months. If you would like to get a permanent license, you can log in to
www.boatus.org and take an open book test online. If you pass the test, you will receive a laminated copy of your license within a few weeks.
